setting up

Every Howard Miller floor clock comes with a comprehensive instruction manual and is designed to be set up by you at home.

It’s easy to unpack and set up your new clock – just follow the instructions and give us a call if you have any questions.

Some set up tips:

1. Read the manual thoroughly before you start – please call us if anything is unclear or if you have any questions.

1. Floor clocks are heavy, so have a friend on hand to help unpack and position the clock. The clock can be removed from its box in either an upright position or with the box lying down. Remember to lift with your legs not your back!

2. Place a few folded-up towels in the bottom of the cabinet before you hang the weights. This will help prevent damage just in case you drop one of the weights.

3. Let the clock run for 24 hours before you remove the three foam blocks that keep tension on the pulleys. After 24 hours, the pulleys will have dropped enough to remove them easily.

4. Don't remove the clear plastic covers on the cable drums at the rear of the movement. They need to stay there to prevent cables from binding.

5. Each clock comes with a discreet safety strap. This must be attached to a wall behind to the clock to prevent it tipping over if it takes a hard knock.
